  • The Bokeh Blog…

We named this blog the "Bokeh Blog" because it combines a photographic term with a great life lesson. Bokeh refers to the appearance of out-of-focus areas in an image and is often used to reduce distractions and emphasize the primary subject. Sometimes all that we need is a little "Bokeh" in our life to blur background noise and allow us to focus on what is most important - family and friends.

Being a photographer is a dream come true, as it allows me to focus on the the hearts of our existences - our families. I feel so lucky because not only do I get to to create art everyday, but I also get to work with an incredible group of girls, including my best friend Jessica Sikes. Although we have a blast, the best part of our jobs is getting to be a part of your families' traditions. We love being able to watch your little ones grow. As mothers ourselves, we know how significant it can be to capture the essence of your children through imagery.

Grab a cup of coffee, sit for a minute every now and then and enjoy our blog.  Along with Jessica and the girls, we will post some thoughts, maybe a story or two, new promotions and of course some of our favorite images.  We hope this blog brings a smile to your face and continually reminds you to improve your focus by blurring out all the background noise in your life.

Wow!

I can’t believe it, but it is only August and we are getting close to being booked for 2010. We are more booked than usual for this time of year, so we wanted to remind everyone to book early if you are wanting a session in 2010. We can not thank everyone enough for the continued support in our business and for helping us live our dream each and every day. We truly love our clients and give each session our heart and soul.

Depending on how everything is running, we may decide to open a few extra spots so just give us a call and we will do everything we can to accommodate our loving clients. Additionally, we will reserve a few spots each month for those last minute newborn appointments. However, for all the clients out there who are expecting a baby… You can book based on your due date and we encourage you to do so. We will help you with the details when we set your appointment up but please don’t ever be afraid to book too early.

We can’t wait to continue creating traditions with your families this holiday season. See you soon!

I just can’t stop…

Looking at this image. I know I am biased as she is my daughter, but I can not stop looking into her big eyes. There is something about the look she has on her face that completely tells her story. I see so many of the little facets of her personality peeking through and am reminded of her sweet yet intense nature. Isn’t is AMAZING how these tiny little people are born with a personality? From the minute we met her she was sweet and intense and things have not changed one bit since then. There are so many parts of a child’s personality that don’t include them smiling perfectly and I just love it when I capture something like this that stops a parent in their tracks. Well, I hope you enjoy this image and I have to go now because I have to get back to staring into those big eyes.:)

A great fundraiser is coming up in Dallas…

The organization that we are really wanting to support is having a wonderful fundraiser on September 30th. Please see the invite below and come and join us for a great evening of fun. Tiny Sparrow Foundation is such a great cause and would love your support.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow…

Ok, so maybe that would be going a tad overboard, but maybe just maybe by making this post, the weather gods will hear me and cool it down around here even just a little bit! Shooting in the 100+ degrees can be a bit sticky at times. These are 2 of the wall collections that we did for the infamous 13 inches of Snow that landed in Dallas back in February. How fun will it be for these families to remember this magical day with these on their walls? Hot Chocolate anyone?:)Enjoy!

Barry Samet - August 18, 2010 - 5:52 am

Kim,
You have really grown as a quality photographer and mastered well your own technique which I have throughly enjoyed over the past few years.
I am really proud of you and what you bring as an artist. Keep honing your skills to become better, keep expanding your creativity and continue to bring joy to everyone who seek out your talents.

I hope you and your family are doing well.

Love, Barry Samet

Little Madison…

It is so much fun to be able to try new ideas and get inspired… How can you not with all that gorgeous hair? Little Madison was a trooper during her shoot and these were just a “few” of my favorites… Our First Exquisite Newborn Session, what fun!

Anna Eakle - August 17, 2010 - 3:17 am

What a stunning little love bug! And that hair!!! I bet you were in Heaven. : ) LOVE that moment you captured with Dad. You can “feel” the emotion just looking at that beautiful image.

Grandma - August 17, 2010 - 3:42 pm

Of course you had wonderful subjects, but the talent required to get these emotion filled photos is beyond exceptional.
