Bokeh is a photographic term referring to the appearance of out-of-focus areas in an image often used to reduce distractions and emphasize the primary subject.
When not taken literally in a photography sense, it can bring a new approach to thinking about life. Although it is great to always be trying to improve and do more, sometimes all that we need is a little "Bokeh" in our life. A little Bokeh or fuzziness to blur out all the noise in the background allowing us to focus on what is important, family and friends.
Grab a cup of coffee, sit for a minute every now and then and enjoy my blog. I will post some thoughts, maybe a story or two, new promotions and of course some of my favorite images. I hope this blog brings a smile to your face and continually serves as a reminder to you to improve your focus by blurring out all the background noise in your life.
We have a wonderful way for you to give to a fantastic new organization and get a chance to win one of the new fabulous Kelly Moore bags at the same time. Here’s all you have to do: For every $10 donated to the Tiny Sparrow Foundation your name will be entered into a drawing to receive one of these beautiful bags that Kelly has graciously donated. Donate $30, your name will be entered 3 times and so on….get the idea?
For many of you, you are probably asking “What is the Tiny Sparrow Foundation?” They are a non-profit organization dedicated to providing lasting memories through the beautiful art of photography to families with children who are facing life threatening illnesses. With the help of photographers worldwide, they are able to give a beautiful album that will carry the love, joy and everlasting memory of each individual family. We felt touched by this organization and will be getting more involved with it over the next year. However for now…don’t miss out on this great opportunity to help out Tiny Sparrow and to win a Kelly Moore bag. A little bit can go a long way.
The drawing will be held Friday, March 5th and the winner will be announced at noon (CST). The winner will be contacted by Kelly to choose the color of the bag they want.
Whoo Hoo!!! Kim was featured this morning on FOX4 Good Day. They have such an amazing staff and are always so supportive of us, thank you FOX!. Although we are here to help create custom pieces of art for your home, we want you to be able to capture all those precious moments in between. Click below to see the fun segment on how to take better pictures of your children at home. Our special models were Steel, Kim’s son, and Arianna, Anna’s (our wonderful studio coordinator) daughter. Enjoy!
My hubby is on the board of Jonathan’s Place, http://jpkids.org/ , a charity who provides care to abused children, which has been selected by the NFL to compete in the Pepsi Refresh Campaign. DeMarcus Ware of the Dallas Cowboys will represent Jonathan’s Place in the campaign and the winner will receive $100,000.
We here at Kimberly Wylie Photography also work closely with this amazing cause and would absolutely be thrilled if they could get an extra $100,000 of funding to help these children.

We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and a Happy New Year! We are very excited for 2010 and all that it will bring, we just know it will be another spectacular year and can’t wait to see you all!
We are so excited to start our blog in 2010 with some awesome news to share. It is always great to have goals and even more fun when you achieve them. We are so proud that we achieved 3 of our professional goals all at the same time… 1). Have an article feature about Kim’s work in her favorite magazine, Professional Photographer. 2). Get the cover of the same magazine and 3). Speak at one of our national conventions. All 3 of these are a pretty big deal and for them all to happen together…well, it was truly amazing! The magazine Kim was featured in with the cover is their biggest issue of the year and was also distributed at the conference she spoke at. So to say the least…It was quite an experience!
Over 10,000 photographers came to Nashville to attend this conference and it was a wonderful experience for us and all of our staff. It was a week full of laughter, fun, connecting with old friends, making new friends and lots learning. We are attaching a few fun images from the conference and a fun 10 second video of the crowd going wild while we were speaking to a full house. Kim spoke with a fellow photographer and friend, Laura Novak and they rocked the house! Enjoy!

December 14, 2009 - 3:25 amJess - Oh KIM!!! We miss you. Time for you to to post! How about some of your favorite images from this season. I know someone who can help.
We have partnered with Laura Novak and would like to share with you our newest endeavor: The Living the Dream Workshop. We feel that together as 2 award winning photographers who own 2 of the largest grossing portrait studios in the nation, we will be able to offer our attendees a content rich workshop unlike any other.
The concept of the workshop is to teach and share our approach to the entire lifecycle of a portrait. We will be covering in great detail the process starting with marketing, to the booking process, to the pre-consultation, creating images with impact, processing them for sale, presentation and sales of the images, production of the order, presentation of the order. Each step will be covered from the perspective of generating a high quality product and experience for the client while maximizing efficiencies and profitability.
Kimberly, Laura, and Kimberly’s business partner Jessica will be taking turns with each of the segments based on our greatest strengths and we will be teaching to the entire class at the same time. We are also privileged to have the amazing Carrie Sandoval and Brittany Woodall from Baby as Art to join us to be part of the photography section with a live newborn photo shoot.
Visit www.livingthedreamworkshop.com and join us for an experience that will change your life!

Have a very Merry Christmas and blessed 2010!
Okay, I am sorry I have been so horrible at keeping up with posts on my blog. I have had a crazy past few months and just fell WAY behind. I am back and here is my goal. I will try and post 2-3 times a week. I can not post every session as there is not enough time in the day for that but I will post more often. Also, I accidentally deleted a TON of your nice comments when I was trying to get rid of a bunch of Spam comments, so I am so so sorry! I LOVE your comments, so please keep them coming! Forward to your friends and enjoy! Happy Fall!
I just got back from a whirlwind of a weekend in sunny Los Angeles where I had an opportunity of a lifetime. I got to meet with some of Hollywood’s most elite producers and talent agents along with their wonderful families. Everyone was so nice and had fabulous homes for me to work with. It was a creative high getting to work with different styles, art, architecture and overall was a total blast! Thanks guys and I can’t wait to see what the future holds… There were way too many to put into a post so I made a little video. After the video are a few of my favorites from the weekend, Enjoy!

October 26, 2009 - 2:34 pmRicky - I have recently been introduced to your website and blog and I can say I will continue to visit it. I am aspiring to create images and have a similar focus around children, however I just need inspiration, which you truly provide. The above images are amazing!

February 20, 2010 - 3:39 amJoy - Wow the colors are amazing. Your photography is truly art. I am so happy I found your blog.
I have had the honor of getting to watch Miss Daniela, Paola’s daughter, grow up before my eyes over the last 5 years. How did she get so big? Time flies! She is an absolute joy to work with and I look forward to our annual session in which Paola lets me do basically any idea I have sitting in my head that I have not had a chance to do yet. Perfect dress, perfect headband, perfect umbrella, perfect girl. To me this image signifies that feeling of carefree childhood fun…Enjoy!
